There are 2 problems that a user may encounter when using Netscape mail.
#1 "Cannot Relay" error message when attempting to send mail via Netscape.
To rectify this, the user change the relay host from localhost to
fnal.fnal.gov:
Click on 'Edit->Preferences...->Mail and Groups->Mail server' and edit the
"Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" line to read "fnal.fnal.gov" (without the quotes)
#2 "Can't move mail; unable to write to /var/spool/mail/<username> Permission
denied..."
To rectify this problem use another movemail application that is external to
Netscape:
Click on 'Edit->Preferences...->Mail and Groups->Mail server.' De-activate the
"Leave on Server" button under POP3 and then activate the 'Movemail
application' option. Activate the 'External application' and type this in the
field provided: "/usr/lib/emacs/20.2/i386-redhat-linux/movemail" (again,
without the quotes). This is a trusted movemail program included with emacs
on a default install of Fermi Red Hat Linux.
Cheers,
Dan
